Care Centre  (233 1248)

History

NPCC was established to provideservices to our community without regard to culture, gender, religion or economic standing. We believe a strong network of caring services will bring great benefit to the North Porirua community and beyond. These benefits include stronger family units, reduced child and family stress, less demand on secondary and tertiary services, early intervention and preventative outcomes, and stronger, happier communities.

The Care Centre was built on the Mana Counselling Service, Johannes Sijbrant and Vanessa Lynch, which has been established for 14 years and has a good reputation in the community. Amanda Rowe, our Social Worker started working in her role in February this year and was appointed in response to an identified need. Another Counsellor Robyn Te Paiho will join the team when the Centre moves to a new location. She already is very much part of the team, attending monthly team meetings and providing some supervision for Amanda.

The inclusion of a Social Worker into the team has already had positive outcomes, with individuals and families being assisted to manage their lives better, in order to participate more fully in community, school and work activities.

The Care Centre Trust oversees the activities of the Centre, which is managed by a voluntary Manager.
